Excess Sweating Treatments – Control Excessive Sweating Naturally

Everybody sweats. It is a normal part of being human and is useful in regulating the body temperature. Some people, however, sweat a lot more than others and find it to be a very embarrassing issue. Sometimes, the sweat can create a bad smell or stain clothing, making things worse. However, there are excess sweating treatments.

Excessive sweating is also called hyperhidrosis. It usually involves having far too much sweat coming from the hands or feet. This sweat is uncontrollable and does not appear for a clear reason, such as exercising a lot or feeling very anxious. The sweating normally does not happen during sleep, but will happen during any waking hour.

The causes of hyperhidrosis are still unknown. However, some doctors believe that it can be inherited or is the result of a sympathetic nervous system that is overactive. There may be certain activities that trigger the sweating.

There are certain things that may trigger the excessive sweating. Some sweat too much after having certain foods or drinks, smoking cigarettes, or having caffeine. Others may experience it because of a spinal injury, a brain lesion, or a nervous system disorder.

An antiperspirant might be prescribed for some people. The antiperspirant will be applied to the areas where there is excessive sweat and will have a good amount of aluminum chloride in it. Though this should help reduce the sweat, it may also cause skin irritation.

Botox injections may be given. These stop the sweat glands from working properly, but will only last for a number of months. This is mostly used for sweat that occurs under the arms.

There are excess sweating treatments other than injections and antiperspirants. Some people choose to have surgery or undergo sweat gland reduction. However, surgery may not always be effective and is always a risk, no matter how healthy you are. Some people take prescription medications orally, but these can have side effects, like dryness of the mouth and eyes and drowsiness.
